Even with MSE for MP4 on (by default), and youtube.com being redirected to m.youtube.com by the browser automatically, I'm still unable to watch any videos. It's simply browser not supported. Surprisingly, KM-Goanna is able to display the video at 1080p (adblock doesn't work though, and higher definitions need MSE for WebM which is not available).

you have to place ffmpeg-lav DLLs in the place where palemoon.exe lives.
please see FAQ fro downloads.

I followed the instructions. I found it can only go up to 1440p quality. 2160p is not usable even though it's possible to choose it. Your NM28 could watch 2160p without any problems. Of course I have to use mTube addon to switch to youtube mobile. Don't know why you default to youtube mobile on NM27 but not on NM28.

because non-mobile youtube UI is too heavy on NM27

No. You misunderstood me. I mean you should set to switch to youtube mobile on other versions of NM too. youtube.com now is problematic for all versions of Pale Moon, even with the latest Pale Moon 29.4.4.

The addon mTube by RealityRipple doesn't install on your NM28 even though it said Pale Moon 28.10 is supported.

Quoted from their site:

Supports Pale Moon [28.7 - 29.*] and SeaMonkey [2.0a1 - 2.*].

but NM28 is quite workable here, so I don't want to do that. but you can switch it by specifying mobile user agent.

Doing so will break other sites. BTW, I have a quite contrary experience than you. youtube.com always caused not responding to the extent I have to use Invidious to browse youtube videos.
